Ear Stretchers & Jewellery
If you are unable to wear ‘normal earrings’ then you are in the right place…Because girl, snap!
My name’s Lucy. I work for KOMPAK & I am a bikini competitor.
So, short story time…I stretched my ear all the way back in 2012 & it still hasn’t healed/shrunk back to it’s original size (at this point I don’t think it ever will!). This has never really bothered me until it came to competing. I had the sudden realisation that I wouldn’t be able to wear earrings and I was going to miss out on the stage glam!
I started doing some digging & researching. So now I’m here to save the day & (hopefully) help out all of my fellow competitors who may be experiencing this same realisation/panic! There are a couple of solutions to this ‘issue’ that I have found...
Clip on earrings!!
I swear these are a GODSEND.
I was so worried that they were going to fall off, look too obvious that they were clip ons etc. before they arrived. But honestly that wasn’t the case at all. The clip on earrings are so strong, they really aren’t going anywhere. I have competed in 5 shows and despite all of the sassy hair flicks, lying down backstage and running around like a headless chicken…they have never once failed me!
TIP- Depending on the size of your hole I would recommend that you place the clip so that it pushes the stretched hole together and is secured above the hole so that it isn’t visible. This will also reduce the weight of the earring on the lower, thinner part of your earlobe.
DIY Plug.
This option is a little more fiddly but may be a great option for those with a bigger hole. Purchase a flesh coloured plug, poke a hole in the centre and glue a ‘normal earring’ into the hole. Ensure that this is glued in tightly & securely to reduce the chances of it falling out.
TIP- Don’t forget to then tan the plug too so that it matches the rest of your ear…this will help it look more natural!
When choosing your jewelry, regardless of which ‘solution’ you choose, don’t forget to measure from your earlobe to your shoulder line to ensure that the earrings you are choosing are the right length for you!
